but after watching all the episodes...it fits into place rather well...
That apparently...Salad Fingers once had a family...and there was a war...
His family died in the war...But he pretends his family is still alive with his little dolls...He has indeed lost his mind...if there was a mind to begin with...

I understand,just what his love was,his love,was the earth...and he wanted it to be restored,but the black roses caused all that pain in the earth,so he had to kill them,
to restore his love,interesting twist.
